One value I will live the rest of my life by is honesty. From coaching hundreds of people I have always coached the same way, BLUNT and honest. I will never BS around a topic as lying to someone and yourself is never the solution.
So, in today’s article I am probably going to hurt your feelings. If I do, you’re the person I’m speaking about here as to why you struggle when it comes to fat loss.
Are you ready to be offended? Here’s 3 hard truths about fat loss you need to know.
1. You lie to yourself:
How many times have you said the following? “I’ve tried everything”, “I’ve a slow metabolism”, “It must be because I’m not eating enough” or worse “I’ve always been fat”? Any of these hit home? The list goes on, but they all have one thing in common. It’s a BS story people keep telling themselves.
In order for things to get better you must get better. What you’re currently doing right now isn’t working so you need to try a better approach. An approach that begins by you not lying to yourself.
Accept you need help and accept you can get better once you begin being honest with yourself. Change that and you won’t recognise yourself 6 months from now.

2. “You don’t eat enough”:
It is impossible for someone to eat so few calories that their body magically absorbs calories from thin air and they gain weight. It doesn’t work like that. However, what does happen is people don’t eat enough during the day or have poor quality meals.
So instead of eating a good meal they snack all day. Eating while cooking for the kids, picking at food all day, eating all the chocolate around them at night when they finally have some peace.
I hear this all the time with my Academy members. Then I give them a meal plan and the first answer I get back is “that’s a lot of food”. But when you eat high quality meals you won’t feel they need to snack. As when you snack you end up in a calorie surplus and gain weight. Where eating good quality filling meals while in a deficit will make you feel full and you’ll be losing weight.
Lesson to be learned is eat good meals.

3. Not enjoying the process:
If you’re not enjoying the food you’re eating and/or the exercise you’re doing. It is impossible for you to be consistent. How do you counter act that? Put some time aside to prepare your meals and ensure they are delicious. Then find a form of exercise you enjoy. I recommended resistance training (check out my last article) but the most important thing is you need to enjoy it. Once you do, you’ll always want to do it.
